Cathedral Window Haworthia, botanically listed as Haworthia cymbiformis ‘Cathedral Window’, is a live succulent plant selected for its distinctive form and ornamental appeal. Natural color, size, form, and presentation may vary slightly with season, maturity, and growing conditions.

Morphological Characteristics

Haworthia cymbiformis ‘Cathedral Window’ is a compact rosette-forming succulent known for its translucent leaf tips resembling stained glass windows. The pale green to bright green leaves are thick, fleshy, and shaped like small boats, often lined up symmetrically in clusters. The “windows” on the leaf tips allow sunlight to penetrate deep into the leaf tissues, a trait adapted for low-light environments. Each rosette grows up to 5–8 cm (2–3 inches) in diameter.

Growth Habits

This species grows slowly and offsets freely, forming attractive clumps over time. It is well-suited for container gardening, windowsills, and shaded outdoor arrangements. Unlike some other Haworthias, it thrives with slightly more moisture and appreciates protection from intense sunlight.

Maintenance Points

Lighting: Prefers bright indirect light. Tolerates some direct morning sun but should be shielded from harsh midday rays.

Watering: Water when soil is dry to the touch. Reduce watering frequency in winter.

Soil: Use well-draining succulent mix with added perlite or pumice.

Temperature: Ideal temperature range is 15–27°C (59–80°F). Avoid frost.

Fertilization: Apply diluted succulent fertilizer once a month in spring and summer.

Potting: Choose shallow pots with drainage. Repot only when necessary.

Handling: Avoid overhead watering to keep leaves clean and reduce fungal risk.

Display & Use

Excellent choice for small pots, terrarium-style arrangements, or decorative indoor displays. Its geometric symmetry and glowing leaf tips make it ideal for minimalistic or modern aesthetics. Pairs beautifully with white ceramic containers, gravel topdressing, and other compact succulents like Gasteria, Lithops, or smaller Echeverias.
